Trip to the area of the New England isn't complete without a visit to Rhode Island

New England is a destination for many travelers annually. Is an area of great history and landscapes, not to mention plenty of water for your enjoyment in the summer months. When we think of New England, well-known names like Boston, Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard come to mind first. But the entire state of Rhode Island, a small State, but rich in historic, waterfront property and resident apparently relaxed, becomes a wonderful destination with all the charm of any locality of New England. Having never been to Rhode Island personally, recently spent a long weekend to discover the beauty and extensive history of this State. I considered my three-day visit to the State of the ocean, a learning experience or at least a scratch on the surface of this little piece of America. Although don't know very well as many other parts of New England, Rhode Island offers something for every Member of the family as we discovered soon.

The State of Rhode Island is less than five hours by car from our residence in Pennsylvania. An easy five driving hours not congested, which helps make the perfect place to spend a quiet weekend. Don't know much about this small State as a tourist destination, we select the very cute in a hotel in the center of the State South of Providence in Warwick. The centralized location of the hotel gave us many options within a short drive away. Summer is the time from the beaches and swimming, so our first experience would be a day at the beach. We select the State in Scarborough Beach on the basis of the recommendations of the Secretary at the hotel. Walking later, we were relaxing on a beach not crowded with plenty of public parking, showers clean and a concession stand. The only thing missing was the Boardwalk. This can be a problem for a family with children hyper hoping to find amusement rides and an endless supply of Carnival style games, but for a family looking for some quiet time while enjoying the Atlantic Ocean, this beach was perfect. I learned later form a travel brochure that there is a beach with amusement rides and games style boardwalk located near the town of Westerly but we decided to save that for the next trip.

The island of Newport was our next adventure. After a scenic drive to the South, we enter into Newport and the only problem I had was the inability to enjoy the whole island in one afternoon. Newport has a visitor center that is ideal for guidance, but will leave you wondering why you're not stay longer. One afternoon in Newport is barley long enough to get started. Newport is known for its mansions. The surreal beautiful were once owned some of the richest and most famous families in the world. They are now open to the public that a tourist attractions and not visiting the island would be complete at least one. Newport also has a cliff walk so that visitors can enjoy the beauty of this piece of paradise, as well as some clean beaches and tranquil.

As we took the road and headed home, we all agreed that a weekend just wasn't enough. We couldn't visit historic Providence and we only dipped our toes on a beach. The State was so unique and cozy that I found myself researching its history and its attractions from my home computer, even after we had finished our weekend trip. The State of Rhode Island was scenic and visitor-friendly without the tourist trap and undoubtedly we will visit again.
